Fittings are mechanically connected to the pipeline system and are used for branching, as well as changing the pipe diameter or direction. There are a great many different types of fittings on the market. Their size grid corresponds to the pipe grid.
Fittings are divided into several main categories:
- for butt welding (BW). The ASME B16.9 standard defines their overall dimensions, dimensional tolerances and other indicators. Lightweight corrosion-resistant products are defined by the MSS SP43 standard;
- for welding the socket (SW). ASME B16. 11 defines classes 3000, 6000, 9000;
- threaded connections (THD). The ASME B16.11 standard defines classes 2000, 3000, and 6000.
